Opening the Children’s Exhibit at the Cairo Museum

He is very pleased that children of Egypt and around the world have an ancient Egyptian exhibit they can relate to, one that features famous Egyptian icons in LEGO form. There is also a workshop for children that teaches them about the Egyptian heritage and has graduated a thousand students. Colloquium - Egypt and the Mediterranean World

Accessed January 15, 2010 | Institut Français d'Archéologie Orientale | Happening September 19 - 21, 2010 in central Cairo, Egypt at the French Cultural Center, the international colloquium Landscape Archaeology will be dedicated to Egypt and the Mediterranean World, shedding light on the evolution of the River Nile, an element that is the epitome of the relation between Man and his environment. The itinerary also includes a workshop/seminar taking place from September 23 to 25.

Children's Workshop at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts - Egyptomania

The following is an excerpt from the Indianapolis Examiner, which features information about a workshop at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts for children interested in Egyptology (be prepared to cough up a lot of dough if your child wants to participate):

"Egyptomania" will give children ages 5-6 the opportunity to learn about ancient Egyptian culture. Each day will be dedicated to a particular subject of ancient Egypt and Liles will show children how to make something related to that subject.

One day they will talk about tombs and make canopic jars and another day they'll talk about the pyramids and make structures of pyramids.

Ancient Egyptian Epagomenal Festival

So I missed joining in on the fun, being a day late and a dollar short with this event. However, it is an annual event, so it's something to keep in mind for next year.

The Rosicrucian Egyptian Museum will be hosting its annual Egyptian Epagomenal Festival on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19. In ancient Egyptian mythology, the calendar included 360 days plus five additional epagomenal days. These epagomenal days were days "out of time" when the goddesses Isis and Nephthys, and the gods Osiris, Seth and Horus were born. The Egyptians celebrated the birthdays of these gods with a festival each year. Our version of this festival will include a variety of special lectures, tomb tours, workshops and children’s activities held throughout Rosicrucian Park.

Ancient Art History Come to Life at Annual Workshop

Ancient Egypt comes to life again this summer when Cal State San Bernardino, home to the largest collection of ancient Egyptian art, offers its popular four-day art workshop series for kids 10-13, which focus on art and education in context from the Sphinx to cellphones. Kids get a chance to craft jewelry, pottery, and ushabtis figurines and participate in a mock dig and scavenger hunts. The article concludes with workshop information.

Conference - Experiment and Experience: Ancient Egypt in the Present

Experimental archaeology has the potential to be a powerful research tool while being interdisciplinary. Along with experiential approaches, it is a perfect medium for education and widening participation.
